Frame Your Journey: Oregon
Talk about a breath of fresh air! This latest update from our friend Carla has us feeling calm, cool, and collected. And maybe a little jealous. Carla spent this past week exploring beautiful Bend, Oregon and taking a much needed breather from the roadie life. (No one is immune from the joys of laundry after all, even on a road trip.) In between loads, however, she was able to find time for wide mountain vistas, a tranquil bath house, and an adorable pup. That's enough from us though - check out all the highlights from this week below, straight from Carla.
How would you describe this week in a word? Relaxing! We spent the week in Bend, Oregon with family. We ate great food, took some great hikes, slept in cozy beds, and did a few loads of laundry before continuing on our journey!
Most noteworthy thing that happened: A trip to a beautiful old bathhouse adorned with mosaic murals telling the story of Saint Francis. It was so peaceful, and the perfect way to warm up on a chilly day.
Most delicious thing you ate: An ocean roll from The Sparrow Bakery, a favorite local spot in Bend. An ocean roll is flakey pastry with cardamom and cracked black pepper- delicious!!
Most beautiful thing you saw: The mountains that surround Bend. It's been an abnormally dry year so all the mountain tops were bare when we arrived in Bend. On the second night of our visit we had an epic rainstorm, and consequently woke up to a view of snow-capped mountains backed by a bright blue sky- stunning!
Make any art this week? I made a little line drawing of our host's dog, Juno.
Thanks, Carla! Stay tuned for more updates from the road. Next stop: Portland!
