Frames by Color: Cairo
We'd like to formally introduce - or re-introduce - you to Cairo. This burl wood frame brings so much style, texture, and depth to a space, and a whole lot of interest to your art. Despite what you may think, this lightly patterned natural wood frame can actually read as very traditional or very eclectic. No matter where you place it, it's perfect for black and white photos with just a hint of color, and art prints with touches of blue, pink, and green. Hesitant to take a walk on the wild side? Don't be. Take a look at these examples for all the assurance and inspiration you need.
Pro tip: We typically suggest you skip the mat with piece that fall into our large or extra large buckets. We suggest you only go without a mat if your art has a built in border, or a lot of negative space (in that case, the piece has a natural separator between the art and the frame).
Pro tip: Photography that's largely black and white with only subtle hints of color looks amazing in Cairo. The bright tan tones of the frame look so rich with subtle pops of color. For a crisp, clean look be sure to go with a mat to provide definition between the frame and the photo. One note: Cairo is not the best match for photos with lots of yellows. So, think about the tones in your photo first!
Pro tip: Our favorite art for Cairo typically has blue tones, subtle green tones or pink tones. Stay away from colors that are so bold they compete with the frame (like primary colors). Again, go with a mat here to provide a nice buffer between the frame and the art.
